🌾 Rooted Reflections: “Slow Starts Still Count”

There’s just something about a three-day weekend, isn’t there?
You look forward to it for weeks. You have grand plans to tackle house projects, maybe sneak in a little rest, and feel like you're going to start the new week ahead of the game.
And then… the weather doesn’t cooperate.
The projects get delayed.
You take a much-needed breather (which, let’s be honest, you absolutely needed).
You laugh, you wander, you soak in the little moments with your people.
And then suddenly… it’s Wednesday.
And half the week is already gone.
And your planner is staring at you like, “Excuse me, ma’am, were we supposed to get some things done?”
That’s where I found myself this morning.
Feeling behind. A little out of rhythm.
Kind of like I’d tripped on the starting line and was trying to catch up with the race.
But here’s what I remembered as I sat with my coffee and my guilt:
God isn’t measuring your worth by your productivity.
He’s not watching your week like a performance. He’s watching your heart.
And when our hearts are weary, worn down, or just plain distracted, He doesn’t shake His head in disappointment.
He gently calls us back.
Not to hustle.
Not to “make up for lost time.”
But simply to be faithful with the moment we’re in.
So I made a list.
I lit a candle.
I gave myself grace for the slow start.
And I decided: Today still counts.
If you’re feeling behind this week—whether it’s in your home, your business, or just your soul—can I lovingly remind you:
You haven’t missed anything.
You’re not “off track.”
You’re not the only one who needed a deep breath before diving back in.
Slow starts still count.
Small steps still move you forward.
Grace is still available on Wednesdays.
Let’s move through today like we believe that.
Not in panic. Not in shame.
But in peace.
