Rooted Reflections Ed. 5

🌾 Rooted Reflections No. 05
This past week reminded me how often the plans we make get reshaped by the rhythm of the season we’re in.
We had a few days of harvest delay due to rain — and I don’t mean a little sprinkle, I mean real, muddy, can’t-move-a-combine kind of delay. Add in the emotional weight of knowing that the gentleman injured in the fire is still in the hospital… it’s been a lot. He underwent surgery and is slowly moving forward — we are still covering him in prayer. 🙏
In the middle of that, I found a pocket of time to make a quick getaway — and what a sweet reason to hit the road… my youngest granddaughter’s first birthday! 🎉
It was a fast trip to Texas — down Friday, back Sunday — but filled with everything that matters:
💛 Frosting cupcakes
💛 Making side dishes for the BBQ
💛 And just staring at the gift of her life
So much ahead of her. So many dreams just waiting to bloom.
As soon as I got back, it was right back into the field. This year’s harvest has felt like a marathon — full of starts and stops, long stretches, and moments where the finish line feels far off. But just like with our dreams and goals, we keep moving forward one row at a time.
On the drive home — just me, the road, and the hum of my thoughts — I caught up on podcasts, listened to some favorite teachings, and let my mind wander. I didn’t open my planner (because, safety first 😉), but I did start mentally mapping out what’s next. I’m preparing to set a new 90-day goal — something I’ve learned to do not because it’s trendy, but because it gives me a rhythm to move with. A way to say: This matters. I’m showing up. (more on setting 90 day goals in a future blog.)
And after a weekend celebrating my youngest granddaughter’s first birthday, that rhythm feels even more meaningful.
There’s something about holding a baby who hasn’t yet spoken a word — and realizing she’s already watching you.
Being a grandma changes you.
It shifts your perspective. It slows your steps in the best way.
You stop chasing “more” and start choosing “meaning.”
You start showing your children and grandchildren what it looks like to walk in purpose, not perfection.
Something I heard recently stuck with me:
“Legacy isn’t something you leave — it’s something you live now.”
And I believe that with everything in me.
I’m not just building Prairie Bloom Media. I’m not just preparing to launch Blooming Hearts.
I’m living my legacy — right here, in the middle of harvest meals, fast road trips, prayers whispered over the steering wheel, and quiet obedience. You see, legacy isn’t something loud or flashy.
It’s the way I show up in the everyday —
with joy in the little things,
laughter in the chaos,
grace in the interruptions,
and love in every ordinary moment.
It’s not what I’ll leave behind —
it’s what I’m living right now and loving every ounce of it.
✍️ Journaling Prompt:
What’s one goal you’ve been afraid to name?
Write it down today. Not the how — just the what.
You don’t need the whole plan. You just need the next faithful step.
📌 Final Reflection:
Friend, whatever season you’re in — muddy delays, birthday candles, or long drives filled with dreaming — remember that God is in all of it. He’s not waiting for you to be faster, flashier, or more certain. He’s just asking you to keep showing up.
The work you’re doing — in the field, in your family, in your heart — is not wasted.
It’s sowing seeds for a harvest that reaches beyond your lifetime.
You are already living the legacy they’ll remember.
Let’s root deep and rise strong — together.
